OotDL completed services from conceptual design through construction documents for the design of the campus site improvements for the Rise Koyhang charter middle school in the Pico Union neighborhood of Los Angeles. Open space on the campus plays a significant role on the campus.   The main entry breezeway runs through the classroom building to a generous platform for performances, events and gatherings, a lower terrace includes a flexible use playing field and basketball court.  A large learning garden planted with a native hedgerow, growing beds, tool storage and work station will be used for instruction and nature observation.  The south and west sides of the lower terrace are bounded by large canopy shade trees to provide cooler outdoor areas during warm weather.  The project has been designed to LAUSD/DSA standards.
